Where Do Mechanical Engineers Usually Work?

mechanical engineering

Hi,
Where does a mechanical engineer usually work:
In the field or in an office?
Also, how much computer involvement is there in the job of a mechanical engineer? How stable are mechanical engineers’ jobs and do they get paid well compared to, say, electrical engineers?
Thanks for any help!

Can Anyone Recommend an Industry in Which Mechanical Engineer Actual Get to Do Design Work?

mechanical engineering

I’m a mechanical engineer working on my Masters Degree. I work in the medical industry and 98%of my work in project management. I truly love mechanical engineering and the basic science behind it but I never get to use it. Can anyone recommend industries in which mechanical engineers actually get to do engineering work as their primary activity?

How Does Time Dilation Work for a Mechanical Clock?

mechanical engineering

I understand that time dilation is when the gravitational pull will change the distance the speed of light is traveling. However, how would this work for a mechanical clock? Say the arms of the clock act as the speed of light and it sits on a strong gravitational pull. Since the arms travel in a circle it would be faster going from the 12 spot to the 6 (since it is moving toward the pull) but slower going from the 6 to the 12 (since it is moving away from pull)? Therefore, evening itself out and there would be no time change, right?

How Do Automatic Spring Winding Machines Work?

theory of machines

I am interested in what happens to the wire as it exits the machine – how it is deflected and starts to coil. Is there any published information about what’s going on with the wire (ie theory)?

How Do You Work Out Mechanical Advantage, Velocity Ratio and Efficiency?

mechanical engineering

An object with a mass of 2 tonnes is lifted with a simple screw jack which requires an effort of 250N. If, in lifting the object, a distance of 150MM is moved vertically, and the operator turns the jack handle through a distance of 20,000MM calculate:
a) The mechanical advantage.
b) The velocity ratio
c) The efficiency
Thanks in advance for any help.

What Do Mechanical Engineers Who Work for the Government Do?

mechanical engineering

I read that mechanical engineers who work for the government have the highest average salary. so what do they do?
and what are the chances that, if im very good, ill be working on something cutting edge/classifided/secret?

How Is Motor’s Mechanical Energy Able to Perform Mechanical Work?

mechanical engineering

1. Mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy
2. A current is generated by a rotating loop in a magnetic field
3. Electrical energy is converted into a magnetic force
4. A shaft connectred to the rotating coil is attached to some external device
Please help! Thank you!
