    Hi,
My son is across the way from you at Ave Maria School of law, but we are from California and my other son is at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. I would highly recommend that you look at Cal Poly. They are such a great engineering school and they have a material science masters program. It is fairly new so it is small, but that means you have a lot of attention and help from faculty. If you’ve never been to San Luis Obispo you are in for a treat! It is beautiful with the ocean 15 minutes from campus and a great downtown area.
Cal Poly has a reputation for a high percentage of graduates being placed in excellent jobs right after graduation. Check it out…it would be a nice change from Michigan weather!
I copied and pasted just a little bit from the website. Just google “Cal Poly masters in material science and engineering” and you’ll find it!
Our masters degree program emphasizes materials science applications in engineering.
    Small and growing
Currently, you will be one of only a handful of graduate students working for your advisor, receiving individual faculty guidance for your thesis. Students completing a masters degree with a specialization in materials can select specific study tracks that enable them to develop in-depth knowledge in specific areas of technology.
Get a B.S. and M.S. at the same time
If you’re a Cal Poly student, you may be eligible to earn two degrees with a savings of 13 credit hours. Go to the section on 4+1.
Two paths available: “Traditional M.S.” and “BMS (4+1)”
We have two paths to a M.S. degree. One is the traditional, for those who have finished their B.S. degree. The other is the 4+1, for current Cal Poly students who have completed less than 150 credit units.

University of Dayton is one of the best in the country for materials science. University of Michigan also has a well respected program. You may also want to look at OSU.
